Frequently asked questions

Which files can the app see?

Only files you choose. Pick them with Choose Drive files in the app, or select them in Google Drive and use Open with → Slowgrain Cleaner for Google Drive. The app cannot see the rest of your Drive and does not add new files on its own.

How do I send many files at once from Google Drive?

Open the folder (or a search such as type:image) in Google Drive, scroll to the bottom so every file is loaded, press Ctrl+A (⌘A on Mac), check the selected count, then right-click and choose Open with → Slowgrain Cleaner for Google Drive. Large selections can take a few minutes to open. Selecting a folder itself does not give the app access to the files inside it.

Where does the app store data?

Fingerprints, your saved file list and cleanup history are stored in your hidden Drive app data folder. Images and short videos are processed in your browser. Larger videos need the separately installed local helper, which processes temporary copies on your computer.

Is a similarity score the probability that files are identical?

No. It is a candidate score from the comparison algorithm. Review previews and metadata, and compare important files yourself.

Does cleanup permanently delete a file?

No. Files you select are moved to the Drive bin. The app does not empty the bin; you restore or permanently delete files in Google Drive.

Can scheduled cleanup move files automatically?

Only if you are on Pro and turn it on. Schedules recheck the files already in your list and can clean up exact duplicates and images that pass the safety checks. Crop, partial-video, document and audio candidates are never cleaned up automatically. Stop schedules in Scheduled cleanup or by deleting app data.

How do I buy Pro?

Pro checkout is temporarily paused while we finish the production release. We will update this page when purchases can safely activate Pro in the production app.

How do I cancel or get a refund?

Cancel any time with the subscription-management link in Paddle's receipt email or by emailing support; Pro stays on until the end of the paid period. You can request a full refund within 30 days of a payment by emailing support.

How do I delete app data?

In Settings and licence, open Privacy and app data → Delete my app data. This deletes the app's fingerprints, file list, history, settings, licence, triggers and current-browser cache without changing your Drive files. The local-helper cache is separate: stop the helper and remove .cache/drive-cleaner-helper in your home folder (on Windows, %USERPROFILE%\.cache\drive-cleaner-helper).

How do I restore files?

Open Activity history, check the job and choose its restore action. You can also restore files from the Drive bin while Google keeps them. Moving files to the bin does not free storage until the bin is emptied.

How do I revoke access?

Delete app data first if you want to remove stored data. Then visit Google Account connections and remove the app. Revoking access alone does not delete app data.

When contacting support

Include the error text, browser and OS, the feature you used and the approximate file count. Do not send file names, sharing links, OAuth tokens or full card numbers. For payment questions, include the order number from Paddle's receipt.
